The TC10k is Victoria’s biggest road running race. This year, it will take place on April 29th. I’ve already got my work team registered for the race and we are very excited.
Almost 10,000 runners of all levels will step on the start line this year. Many of them have very inspiring stories and have overcome a lot of challenges to get to the start line.
Training for a race is not an easy task.
Many people are faced with challenges and there is something about being part of the running community that makes those challenges easier to overcome.
Why do I enjoy the TC10k?
This race really means a lot to me. From late 2008 to early 2011, I was unable to run as a result of an injury.
Then, in 2011, I did my first 10k on my own after overcoming that injury. My Garmin GPS said it took me 1 hour and 30 minutes. Just a few months before that, I was out of breath if I ran a block. I was nervous about running outside because I was concerned about my pace and how I looked when I ran. That was exactly one year before I ran my first TC10k in 2012.
When I signed up for the TC10k in 2012, I was expecting to finish in about 1 hour. However, my lofty goal was to finish under 50 minutes. To my complete shock, I finished my first TC10k in 43:35.
To me, that result was a cause for celebration. My first TC10k has given me huge confidence in my abilities as a runner. I fell in love with the progress I was making. Furthermore, I really enjoyed connecting with the running community on a whole new level. I’m not an elite runner and although I’m not the fastest, my heart and soul are into running.
Ever since my first TC10k, running has become something that I look forward to. For the past six years, running has filled my soul. In that time, I’ve run six marathons (all of which resulted in me qualifying for Boston), countless half and 10k races.
I was miserable when I couldn’t run due to an injury but I’m grateful that I’ve been able to return to running. My past injuries don’t define me.
Here I am, still running and still chasing my elusive sub 40 min 10k.

Crossing the finish line in 2016. Ironically, finished in 43:35, just like my first TC10k.
How to win a FREE TC10k Entry:
Earlier this year, I got connected with the organizers of the TC10k, Dynamic Race Events, when I told them about my fundraising idea for Help Fill a Dream Foundation.
As a result, I’m incredibly grateful that they’ve donated 5 FREE entry codes for me to give away to people who participate in the charity run that I’m organizing.
In order to be entered to win one of the five free entries, all you have to do is sign up for Run4Dreams.

The goal of Run4Dreams is to raise funds for Help Fill a Dream Foundation and inspire runners of all levels to participate.
All the money raised by Run4Dreams will be donated to help critically ill children and their families and I am not taking any profit from it. The reason why I’m choosing not to take profits from it is because I want these kids and families to get as much as possible.
When you sign up for Run4Dreams, you become a hero to the kids and their families who need help. Then, after registering, all you have to do is complete a 5k run or walk before April 15th, 2018. You will also be entered to win great draw prizes. All registrants will get a free pair of Run4Dreams athletic socks.
The question is:
Do you want to become an everyday hero, score great swag and be entered to win awesome draw prizes?
Only you can answer that. For the sake of these kids, I hope you do. Registration deadline for Run4Dreams 2018 is March 30, 2018.
